Paul Scheele is an initiate in the Himalayan Tradition and it
has supported him in creating highly successful professional and
personal outcomes.
Back in the early 1970s, the practices of Yoga Meditation
included intensive disciplines. The recommended time for sitting
was 20 to 30 minutes—morning, noon, and night. Before sitting
there were also a number of physical postures to help gain
flexibility and relaxation, plus a set of breathing practices
all of which could take an additional 20 minutes!
As a student at the University of Minnesota, Paul’s yoga
disciplines were a welcomed relief from the stresses of working
towards his science degree. But later as young businessman,
husband, and father, the austere yogi lifestyle Paul had adopted
didn’t fit at all. He drifted away from yoga through the years,
and engaged in it only occasionally, when life’s pressures were
too much to handle.
Here’s the story of how this meditation series began:
In 2005, Swami Veda Bharati was back in Minnesota leading a
retreat. Paul cleared his busy schedule to attend. During the
5-day silence meditation retreat, Paul heard the Swami Veda say
something that changed everything. "All of you who studied with
me in the early years, you know we had many disciplines and
complicated practices to follow. Forget about them."
If Paul hadn't been in silence, He would have blurted out
"WHAT!?!" Then the ultimate pearl of wisdom came from Swami
Veda. "Simply drop into the silence. For 2 or 3 minutes, at any
time of the day or night, simply drop into the silence."
Paul did right then and there! For 3 minutes Paul literally fell
into a deep, blissfully peace-filled state of profound
meditation. The silence in his mind and the calm in his body
enveloped and held him in a loving embrace of transcendent and
universal peace…easily as deep as any he had ever experienced.
And like bathing his burning mind in a cool mountain stream,
everything changed.
After the retreat, Paul met with Swami Veda to discuss a radical
new idea.
